Turks and Kurds

Why is it that the US isn't helping the Turks with their Kurd problem, When we've included the PKK on our terrorist list?
It seems that for all the help Turkey has given us in the way of logistical support for both the Afghanistan war and the Iraq war, we're going to turn a cold shoulder to them.
This isn't any way to treat a friend and it is definitely sending a poor message to other countries.
I'm sure this has something to do with the pact we formed with the Kurds when we arranged for northern Iraq to be a safe haven. What the heck, the Kurds are sitting on top of 30% of Iraq's oil reserves.
Looks to me like Greenspan was being honest when he said that this war was all about the oil!
